Mary is an incredibly gifted yoga instructor with a gentle, compassionate, and positive teaching style; she integrates a deep knowledge of the practice of yoga with an understanding of muscle structure and how our muscles balance and work together. The opportunity to learn and practice yoga with Mary has been a gift of many dimensions. There is the sense of well being and a calm mind after every class, and restorative yoga has resolved chronic hip pain that has plagued me for several years. With Mary’s guidance I have gained insight into how the practice of yoga is really a way of life and the physical and spiritual benefits don’t end with class. I have learned how to breathe, sooth and stretch a tired body at the end of the day and take some time to warm and center myself in the morning. The increased strength and flexibility has given me a sense of wholeness and ease with my body that, as an older woman, I never imagined possible. And then, as Mary once reminded me, there isn’t a final “goal”; with the practice of yoga we have a wonderful opportunity to keep going and growing. Namaste.
